Roanoke Area Ministries

Roanoke Area Ministries is an ecumenical, urban ministry that serves the Roanoke Valley by providing safe shelter for the homeless, a nutritious lunch, and emergency financial aid to those in need.

Our doors are open 365 days a year from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

We invite you to step inside, see what we do each day, and discover how you can help.

RAM House Water Damage

On Monday, February 23, when our staff arrived for work, they found water from a broken pipe in an upstairs room pouring into the financial aid office and the shelter downstairs. The shelter has been closed since then. We anticipate reopening on Friday, March 6 with some temporary changes to the shelter set up until all repairs can be made. Here are some pictures of the damage and the industrial humidifiers that are being used to remove the moisture.

We are in need of antiseptic cleaning supplies, mops and buckets, cleaning cloths, and paper towels. We also need  chairs to replace those in the financial aid office and the shelter that have been damaged. Chairs that are upholstered with vinyl or other material that can be wiped off are needed for the waiting room and new office chairs are needed for the staff.

We would also appreciate monetary donations to help replace office supplies and equipment that have been lost, as well as donations of file folders, copy paper, pencils and other office supplies.

RAM House Repair and Equipment Fund
RAM has established a GoFundMe fundraising account for money to help with repairs from the water damage and replace furniture and other supplies that were damaged. Here is the link: http://www.gofundme.com/numo0s Please share with everyone you know!
